The Power of Energy Independence

In the ever-evolving landscape of cleantech, few stories stand out as boldly as that of Jordan Brompton, Co-Founder of myenergi and a true innovator in the push towards a greener future.

In the first episode of The Story of Software: Cleantech Creators, Jordan shares insights into her entrepreneurial path, the challenges of scaling a business in the renewable energy sector, and the misconceptions surrounding EVs and green energy. She also speaks about the importance of decentralising energy, empowering consumers to take control of their own power sources, and breaking stereotypes in an industry historically dominated by men.

Jordan’s perspective challenges the status quo and highlights why clean tech is not just an environmental necessity, but also an economic and practical shift that benefits everyone.

Q: You’ve been through some incredible highs, but also some major challenges. What’s been the toughest part of building myenergi?

“It’s been eight years of highs and lows. And I don’t think there’s a challenge we haven’t faced. We had this amazing momentum, we were riding the wave of renewables, and then—boom—COVID hit. We thought we’d have to shut down manufacturing, but instead, we doubled down, stocked up on components, and somehow that turned out to be the best decision. But then came the semiconductor shortage, supply chain issues, a flood of cheap stock from China crashing prices, and suddenly we were firefighting again. The cleantech space is brutal like that—one minute, you’re soaring, the next, you’re scrambling. But the one thing that’s always remained constant is our belief in what we’re doing. That’s what gets you through.”
